Who we are


We are a state-of-the-art veterinary centre located in the heart of Cochrane’s Historic Downtown. Our facility is fully staffed with a veterinary team that has extensive experience in all aspects of companion animal medicine surgery and emergency procedures.

At Arrowhead Veterinary Centre, we offer therapeutic laser as a potential treatment for various painful conditions. Therapeutic lasers are also called “cold” lasers. Laser light at a specific wavelength is delivered to tissues to increase circulation, simulate the immune system and increase collagen and muscle tissue development. Thanks to Dr. Charlene and Arrowhead #dukethebostonterrier will recover from three hours of dental surgery with none of the pain he’s been dealing with since he was a puppy ( puppy mill rescue we think is about 7 ). They will also take care of #dixiethebostonterrier with preventative dental work so she grows up into an even happier adult dog. They take care of all of our four legged kids. 4 dogs and 3 cats.

Arrowhead makes my family feel like their family. They are honest and take extra care with my poodle. A few years ago we nearly lost Loki at the young age of 1 year because he had ingested 4 socks while in another persons care. We knew he had a “passion” for socks and had warned his puppy sitter who was adamant that he had no had access to her footwear. Libby and her team took a look at an X-ray and said “he’s eaten something and it’s blocking his gut even though we can’t see it”. They told me to get him down to the Pet Care centre in Calgary right away as he would need an emergency surgery.

The Care Centre confirmed the diagnosis and did the life saving surgery overnight on a Good Friday. It look Loki about 8 weeks to recover and regain motility in his intestinal track. During the entire time Arrowhead was there for us and with us during the ordeal. We visited at least once a week as he struggled through with ups and downs. Loki lost about 15 pounds off his 70 lb frame. He was just skin and bones but he made it. This year Loki is a happy 3 1/2 year old and had a great annual check up where Libby reported him as being healthy happy and a great weight…. but still has a nose for socks… which are locked down like gold in our household…

Reopening is here, Tuesday July 20th!

After over a year of curbside service, we are so excited to welcome our clients back into the clinic. Our team can’t wait to return to in-person conversations with you!

This week we will be welcoming into the clinic, clients with vaccine appointments, annual wellness exams, rechecks and surgery admissions & discharges. Next week, we will welcome in our clients with medical appointments and those picking up food, medications and other products.

Our management team has been hard at work developing protocols for this reopening. We love our little small town clinic, but it has been a challenge to find creative ways to revise our flow with the doors open, while keeping our staff safe.

Here are some of the requirements and changes you can expect:

  • When entering the clinic, you will need to wear a mask and sanitize your hands.
  • In an effort to maintain social distancing, we are restricting our reception area to 3 clients at a time. There will be markers indicating where to stand and this area will be limited to clients picking up food, medications and other products or dropping off samples.
  • If you have an appointment with one of our veterinarians, we ask that you still text/call when you arrive and wait in your vehicle. Once your veterinarian is available, you and your pet will be guided directly to an exam room. We ask that only one family member attends the appointment (with the exception of end-of-life care). In order to maintain as much social distancing as possible, you will be asked to remain on the indicated markers and our technical staff will help the veterinarian by holding your pet when needed. Once your appointment is completed and you have the products/medications that you need, our staff will finalize your billing in the room and guide you back outside.
  • If you are more comfortable continuing with curbside service at this time, please let our staff know and we will be happy to accommodate you.
  • If you have an appointment booked with one of our technicians, these appointments will remain curbside for now. Please call or text when you get to the clinic and our staff will come outside to get your pet. At the end of their appointment, your pet will be returned to you and billing completed.
  • We continue to ask that you do not come to the clinic if you, or someone living with you, has any COVID symptoms, has been exposed to anyone positive with COVID or has a COVID test pending. If your pet needs to see a veterinarian urgently, please contact us and we will follow appropriate COVID Protocols to see your pet. If it is for a routine procedure, we will be happy to reschedule your appointment once you have followed all current AHS mandated protocols.
  • If you have travelled outside of Canada within 14 days of your appointment, at this time we will see your pet using our curbside protocols.

You are welcome to continue to utilize our online store. You can find the link and register for the store on our website. Our phone lines continue to be very busy, so for non-emergency services and orders you can also use our email ( or our texting line (587-802-3792).

Although many of our staff will be familiar to you, you will notice some new faces when you are in the clinic. We have expanded our team and have a number of great, knowledgeable staff that has never experienced the clinic with the doors open. Please be patient with us as we navigate our reopening and work out the kinks.

Again, we are so thankful for all of the support and understanding we have received from our clients during this past year. You and your wonderful pets have truly made this difficult period as good as it could possibly have been. We can’t wait to see you!
