Our Story

Arrowhead Veterinary Centre is located in the heart of historic downtown Cochrane.

This multi-doctor practice had its humble beginnings as a veterinary hospital in a newly renovated space -inside of a beautiful and rustic exterior- in August of 2008.

The original building was a part of Cochrane since the 1950s, and has housed many businesses including a hardware store, an art gallery, and a bookstore specializing in Western books and Collectables. The name “Arrowhead” seemed like a fitting choice, in keeping with Cochrane’s heritage, and the building’s western roots as well as the proximity to Highway 22 and the Cowboy Trail.

The clinic was the creation of Dr. Libby Fulton. After living and working in Cochrane and the surrounding area for many years, she decided to realize her dream. Her goal was to build a high-quality veterinary practice focusing on individualized patient care and the development of long-term relationships with both pets and their families.

The clinic started as a small practice with only four staff. Dr. Libby Fulton was joined by Dr. Tracie Unrau, and later both, Drs. Silvia Dimigen and Michaela Bartolini. Over the years, the clinic has grown to more than twenty staff and has gone through a second renovation (completed in 2018). What hasn’t changed is our fundamental goal to provide exceptional patient care and personalized relationships with our clients.

Our facility is fully staffed with a veterinary team that has extensive experience in all aspects of companion animal medicine, wellness care, nutrition, end-of-life care, dentistry, surgery, and emergency procedures.
