At Arrowhead Veterinary Centre, we offer therapeutic laser as a potential treatment for various painful conditions. Therapeutic lasers are also called “cold” lasers. Laser light at a specific wavelength is delivered to tissues to increase circulation, simulate the immune system and increase collagen and muscle tissue development. Therapeutic lasers have been identified to reduce pain and inflammation of tissues and encourage healing.
We use the therapeutic laser to treat various conditions:
- Ligament, muscle and tendon injuries
- Wounds and lick granulomas
- Postoperative incisions
- Various other types of acute and chronic pain
One of our veterinarians will recommend a specific schedule for laser therapy that will be most effective for your pet. The laser treatment is pain-free, however some pets will perceive a warmth or tingling sensation. Most pets come to enjoy the treatments and are quite relaxed. Laser therapy is an effective, safe and drug free therapy to assist in your pet’s health management.
